Don't Listen to Cassandras

-Don’t Listen to Cassandras-
(Sonnet, for my son Jim)

Don’t listen to Cassandras of despair.
To those who say that delights always end.
Of course they do, it would indeed be rare
To believe otherwise or just pretend.

But there is something else transcending strife
And success: It’s the nature of the Self!
Trust in that inner strength that guides your life,
Which comes directly from yourself!

Life and death are the extremes of the same pole,
And our days are spent between the two.
But that trickle of time can teach your soul,

To see the eternal in the things you do.
Life will be then a continuous fun time,
Meaningful and productive, useful, kind!
