Pleasure and pain if we accept them.
Distress and boredom if we don’t.
Enjoy the roses, bear the thorns!
One without the other surely is wrong.
Let’s kiss and smell the roses!
As to the thorns let’s smile at them
And thumb our noses!
The so-called devil has no horns!
