Fortune is a capricious, fickle queen,
Who throws the dice of fate with unique skill.
A sweet caress, the collapse of a dream,
A dainty promise or poised for the kill!
Which one is going to be? So full of tricks!
How to tell if the smile which she employs
To promise joy - this mistress of deceits! -
Is a certitude’s seal or is a ploy
To bring about our ruin or downfall?
Oh!, how she hurts, this haughty sovereign,
With her bold lies and talent to enthrall!
And how she preys on us again and again!
Even so her crafty mastery I admire
And to conquer Her Majesty I aspire!
